COLLEAGUES RUN COUNTRY MUSIC MARATHON IN MANISHA’S HONOR

Charitable Fund Established For Children Of Slain Colleague

April 8, 2009 – The memory of Manisha Saraswat is omni-present as the runners and walkers of Southern Hills Medical Center train for this year’s Country Music Marathon. Manisha, the former director of the Southern Hills Advanced Wound Care Center, was training to run her first marathon on April 25, 2009. The March 2 death of this young professional cut short her goal to run the marathon and took the mother from two young children.

 “Manisha was a beautiful person in many ways, and a valued member of our administration,” said Thomas Ozburn, chief executive officer of Southern Hills Medical Center. “She brought energy, experience and a passion for patient care to her role, making a tremendous difference during her tenure. On April 25, we will run in her memory, carrying her joyful spirit with us as we move through the route.”

Nearly 100 individuals from the Southern Hills family are either running or walking the Country Music Marathon and half-marathon, and volunteering along the course. The physicians, medical staff and administrators on the Southern Hills team will wear special t-shirts giving tribute to Manisha.

The hospital has established a charitable fund to provide financial support for Manisha’s daughter and son, ages 3 and 6. Individuals interested in helping may make checks payable to the Benevolence Fund of SHMC and mail them to the hospital at 391 Wallace Road, Nashville, TN 37211.
